Dorothy E. (Savina) Ellertson

Lakeland, FL -- Dorothy E. Ellertson, age 85, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital, Franklin, WI.  Dorothy was born in Cumberland, WI, on April 4, 1928, daughter of the late Clement and Mary (Nee:  Scalise) Savina.

She was employed as a chef at Kilbourn Gardens for several years. Dorothy was an active member of St. Louis Parish involved in the food pantry, church festival and several years as Minister of Care.  She was the proud recipient of the South Shore YWCA Volunteer of the Year Award.  Her hobbies included reading and stitching beautiful embroidery items.   She loved to cook and prepared many delicious meals for family and friends.  She will be fondly remembered as a  devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She will also be deeply missed by her many friends in Wisconsin and Florida.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, LeRoy.  Survivors include her children, Mary Overmyer of Milwaukee, WI, Barbara Wesle (Dick) of Stetsonville, WI, Kathryn Hovelson of Lakeland, FL, Mikkel Ellertson of Milwaukee, WI, Gary (Kathy) Ellertson of Pleasant Prairie, WI,  Therese (Greg) Hudziak of Muskego, WI, Martin Ellertson of Phoenix, AZ; sisters, Dolores (Robert) Fuller of Rockford, IL, Diane Craine of Cumberland, WI; sister-in-law, Shirley Savina of East Troy, WI; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 29, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church, 13207 County Road G, Caledonia, with Rev. Mark J.R. Danczyk officiating.  Private interment will follow at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Town of Dover.  Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 11a.m.  Memorials to St. Louis Food Pantry have been suggested.
