Audie L. (Sharp) Dirkintis

Audie L. Dirkintis, age 87, passed away Monday, October 24, 2011, at the Sheridan Medical Complex, Kenosha, WI. Audie was born in Philadelphia, Mississippi, on September 8, 1924, the ninth of ten children of the late Hilliard G. and Bertha (Nee: Sharp) Sharp.

On December 4, 1943, in Memphis, TN, she was united in marriage to Benedict J. Dirkintis who preceded her in death on May 30, 1982. Audie was employed by Piggly Wiggly on Grove Avenue for thirty years until her retirement in 1988. She was a long-time member of St. Casimir Catholic Church and currently a member of St. Edward Catholic Church. Audie enjoyed vegetable gardening, cooking and baking. Her specialty was her banana bread. She devoted her life to her family and will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Barbara (Richard) Fellion, Martha “Pam” (Ronald) Fellion, John S. Dirkintis (special family friend Sandy) all of Racine; a niece, Jo Gregory; six grandchildren, Christine Grube (Jeff), Brian (Courtney) Fellion, Kyle (Katie) Dirkintis, Dana A. Dirkintis (fiancĂ©, Chris Nowak), Scott Fellion, Kim (Steve) Heideman; great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her nine brothers and sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 28, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church, 1430 Grove Ave., with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 10:30 a.m. Memorials to Hospice Alliance have been suggested.
