Edward Fojtik

Edward Fojtik, age 78, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. He was born in Racine on October 30, 1932, son of the late Michael and Mary (Nee: Sevcik) Fojtik.

Ed graduated from St. Catherine’s High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was employed as an optician for many years, retiring from The Savin Vision Clinic. He was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and currently a member of St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church. Ed was also a member of the National Slovak Society, the Catholic Slovak Sokol and the Racine Zoological Society. He enjoyed reading, listening to and collecting music and watching old time movies. He was an avid Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewers fan and will be dearly missed.

Surviving are his sisters, Mary Perrine of Kenosha, Helen Gregory of Racine, Anne Checkvala of Poulsbo, WA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister, Michael, Joseph, John and Margaret.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 29, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church, 3126 95th St., Sturtevant, with Reverend Bruno Slodowski officiating. Private interment with full military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Memorials to St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church have been suggested.

The family expresses sincere gratitude to Ed’s special niece, Mary Perrine, caregivers Diane Brazale, Debbie Gregory, Sue Bambrough, Linda and Bob Wilda, and the staffs at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints and Ridgewood Care Center for their exceptional care.
