Marie (Schuppe) Luedtke

Marie Luedtke, age 90, passed away on Saturday October 29, 2011, at Wheaton-Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Marie was born in Fon Du Lac, WI, daughter of the late George and Katherine (nee: Phoebig) Schuppe.

On August 25, 1945, Marie was united in marriage to Russell F. Luedtke at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a former active member and volunteer with their Faith Women’s Circle group. Marie was presently a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Marie was employed with Eitel’s Apparel Shop for twenty-three years before retiring. She also gave of her time volunteering with the St. Mary’s Medical Center Auxiliary for eighteen years, sewing quilts for world relief, and sewing for all of her grandchildren, whom she adored. She enjoyed bowling, walking, yard work, travelling, sewing and, most of all, spoiling her randchildren. Marie will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her loving husband of sixty-six years, Russell; three daughters, Sandra (Scott) Sidney of Cedarburg, Cheryl (Robert) Garrity of Racine, Donna Lyons of Racine; four grandchildren, Christopher Garrity, Jennifer (Nick) Willis, Devon (Nate) Magnusson, Sabin Sidney; great-grandson, Carter Willis; brother, Robert (Venise) Schuppe of Wheeling, IL; sister, Helen (Joseph) Pulice of Racine; sister-in-law, Hattie Schuppe of Franksville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Marie was also preceded in death by five brothers, George Jr., Alex, Jacob, Henry and Fredrick Schuppe; and her sisters, Katherine Jacobs and Margaret Christensen.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Rosalind Dryver-Scott officiating. Private interment will be held. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Memorials to Trinity United Methodist Church have been suggested.

The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Howard Short and the entire staff at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center and Hospice for all of their loving and compassionate care.
