Edward J. Mickelson, Jr.

Surrounded by his loving family, Edward J. Mickelson, Jr., age 89, died Thursday, October 13, 2011, at his residence. Edward was born in Sturtevant on July 11, 1922, son of the late Edward J. and Ellen J. (Nee: Potts) Mickelson, Sr.

Edward was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1940.” During World War II, he proudly served in the United States Army. On September 4, 1948, he was united in marriage to Rosemary E. Scheberle who preceded him in death, April 18, 1974. He was employed by SC Johnson Wax for twenty-seven years until his retirement in 1982. Edward served on the Sturtevant Village Board and was village president for ten years. He enjoyed politics, history, bowling, golfing, playing cards, traveling and trips to the casino. More than anything, he cherished time spent with family and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his children, Roseann (Cory) Mason, Diane (Bennett) Poulsen, Ann (Jeffrey) Floch, Edward (Aimee) Mickelson III, Carol Ann Rule; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Floyd (Helen) Mickelson; his significant other of fifteen years, Catherine Richter; other relatives and many dear friends.

Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday, October 16, 2011, at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Private services with entombment and full military honors will be held at Calvary Garden Crypts, Kinzie Avenue.
