Don G. Olson

Don G. Olson, age 83, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2011, at his residence. Don was born in Racine on February 20, 1928, son of the late George F. and Frances (Nee: Mogensen) Olson.

He served in the United States Navy. On June 26, 1948, at St. Rose Catholic Church he was united in marriage to Arlene M. Brill who preceded him in death on November 14, 2009. Don was employed by Walker Manufacturing for many years until his retirement in 1983. He was a lifelong member of St. Edward Catholic Church and was actively involved with numerous parish activities. Don also belonged to the Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent de Paul. In his younger years he was active in sports and an avid Cubs fan. Proactive in civic and humanitarian issues, Don’s main objective was to make the world a better place by helping others. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his son, Kenneth R. Olson; his daughters, Julie J. (Patrick) Pauly, Mari E. Olson (Jeff Munz); his four grandchildren, Jamie (Alex) Ames, Sara Windhorst, Michael Freund, Anna Freund; other relatives and many dear friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian C. Olson; and by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Jeane (George) Tentcher, Marilyn (Pat) Braun.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 8, 2011, at noon at St. Edward Catholic Church, 1401 Grove Ave., with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating. Private interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at noon. Memorials to St. Edward Catholic Church or to St. Vincent de Paul have been suggested.
