She was a homemaker and helped with work around the farm early in their marriage. Later she would work seasonally at the Co-op in Union Grove. She was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Sturtevant. She also belonged to the CCW, Catholic Women’s Club, Racine Theater Guild, and volunteered at Ridgewood Nursing Home.
She is survived by her children, son Bill (Karen) of Kenosha, son Gary (Gail) of Union Grove, daughter Cheryl Sullivan (Marc Shafroth) of Madison; grandchildren, Christian (Hailey) and Joshua Isaacson, Marie (Charles) Sager; and seven great-grandchildren, Brendon, Darren, Kaylyn and Cameron Isaacson, Anna , Megan and Ella Sager; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin; father and mother, Raymond and Frieda Matterer; and her brother, Warren Matterer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 3126 95th St., at 11 a.m. with Fr. Paul Raczynski officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. Private Entombment for immediate family will be held at a later date. Memorials in memory of Hillery to St. Sebastian Catholic Church are suggested in lieu of flowers.
