Jacqueline L. (Klein) Schlaffer

Jacqueline L. Schlaffer, 78, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2014.  She was born on February 13, 1935, daughter of the late Lillian (Nee:  Snyder) and Aloys Klein.

Jackie graduated from Park High School. She worked for various doctors for many years as secretary.  She then opened a floral gift shop (The Four Season’s Shop) with her best friend, Bev.  Jackie married the love of her life, Anthony J. Schlaffer, on April 21, 1956. Sadly, Anthony passed away about four months ago, on September 13, 2013.

They had their first and only baby, James A. Schlaffer, on February 14, 1960, who Jackie leaves behind and loved dearly.  He became the full-time caregiver for both Jackie and Anthony (and sister, Shirley) for over five years.  Jackie appreciated her son’s loyalty all this time, preventing them from being in a nursing home.  She has a sister, Shirley A. Carls, as well as her husband’s sister, Anne Heidenreich.  Jackie is also survived by many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.  Jackie also leaves behind many close friends, from her childhood to her recent pals at Yuni’s Avenue Café.

Visitation will be held this Thursday, January 16, 2014, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.  A private burial/service will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, town of Dover, within the next few weeks. Jackie, at her discretion, has asked for money, in lieu of flowers, for her family to use to donate.

Jim would like to thank ALL the healthcare providers who dealt with Jackie throughout this devastating ordeal.  Most importantly, Jim would like to thank his family’s close friends, neighbors, and relatives for all their love, faith, and support (especially over the last four months).
