Kurt M. Bednar

Kurt M. Bednar, 47, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Wheaton Franciscan All-Saints Medical Center.  He was born on January 5, 1967, son of Richard and LaVerne (Nee: Hengst) Bednar.

Kurt was a graduate of J.I. Case High School.  He was employed for many years by various heating and air conditioning companies.  He had a great love for power lifting, cars and fast motorcycles.  But his greatest love by far was time spent with his daughter, whether attending her softball games or gymnastic meets.

Survivors include his loving daughter, Lauren; parents, Richard and LaVerne; sister, Terri Rieker; brother Keith (Peggy) Bednar; special aunt and uncle, Doris (Howard) Wohlgemuth; special cousins, Jeff and Linda Wohlgemuth, Todd (Dawn) Ziegenhagen; very special friend, Anthony Serrano, who stood by his side till the end.  Preceded in death by his sister, Traci Murray; his brother, Kim Bednar; grandmother, Helen Schroeder; and Auntie Eleanor Ziegenhagen.

A Memorial Service celebrating Kurt’s life will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.  Relatives and friends are welcome to meet with family on Sunday at the funeral home from noon until time of service.  Memorials have been suggested in Lauren’s name for an Education fund to be established.

A very special thank you to the doctors and nurses in ICU for their extraordinary care, support and understanding to Kurt and his family.
