Nancy L. Thompson, age 56, the longest surviving heart/double lung transplant recipient (May 1991), passed away on Monday, January 20, 2014, at Froedtert Memorial Hospital, Milwaukee. Nancy was born in Racine on December 29, 1957, daughter of Richard L. Kroes and Patricia M. (Nee: Buckett) Moorman.
Nancy was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School “Class of 1976.” On May 7, 1977, she was united in marriage to Timothy M. Thompson. She was employed for many years at the Law Office of Barina and Schmidt, retiring in 2008 from American Family Insurance. Nancy was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and Women of the Moose #631. Nancy cherished time with her family up north at their trailer. She especially enjoyed time with her great-niece, Ahnalee, and was looking forward to seeing her new great-nephew in February. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her loving husband of thirty-six years, Tim; her mother, Patricia Moorman; sister, Connie (Bob) Buchholz; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Karen (Dan) Larson, Michael (Annie) Thompson; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Kroes; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lawrence and Betty Thompson; brother-in-law, Donald Thompson; and nephew, James Muleski.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 4649 Lora St., with Rev. Neil Carlson officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Memorials to Froedtert Hospital Foundation, Transplant Center Fund, 9200 West Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53226.
