In her younger years, Joan was employed with Hamilton Beach, Greene’s Mfg. and Voorlas Mfg. She and her family owned and operated D & D Industrial Coatings Inc for the past 33 years. In her spare time, Joan loved shopping. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be deeply missed.
Surviving are her three sons, Salvatore and his son, Jayden of Yorkville, Mark (girlfiend, Janel) of Yorkville, Jeff (Annette) of Oklahoma and their children, Ashlie (fiancé, Dane Slade) of Hales Corners, Matthew of Yorkville; sisters-in-law, Ada Scheurman of Racine, Angie Marano of Racine, Beatrice (Paul) Welz of CA, Josephine Literski of Racine, Marilyn D’Acquisto of Honey Creek; brother-in-law, Joseph D’Acquisto of Racine; faithful companion, Shelly; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty (Lloyd) Davis, Evelyn (Bob) Braun, and Arlene “Toots” (Frank) Gregory; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Tony D’Acquisto, Nick Dacquisto, Gracie D’Acquisto, Eddie Sherman and Frank Marano.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Sebastian’s Catholic Church, 3100 95th St., Sturtevant, on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Mark Jones officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Bohemian National Cemetery. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Assn or the American Heart Assn have been suggested.
