Anita V. (Villarreal) DeLaO

Anita V. DeLaO, age 86, passed away Friday, July 15, 2011, at Lakeshore Manor. Anita was born in La Parrita County, Texas, on September 4, 1924, daughter of the late Filemon and Carmen (Urrutia) Villarreal and had been a resident of Racine since 1947.

On March 14, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas, she was united in marriage to Cosme M. DeLaO who preceded her in death on March 1, 2000. She enjoyed being a crossing guard for the Racine Unified School District for six years from 1984-1990. Anita was a member of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church. Anita enjoyed aquasizing, cooking, cleaning, singing, sledding, dancing and the outdoors. She especially loved caring for and spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her children, Anna Moreno, Olga “OJ” (Rick) Jackson, John DeLaO, Rosa Mathe, Dinah (Dave) Heide, Richard (Janet) DeLaO, Alice (Tom Tyre) DeLaO, Joe (Ariel) DeLaO; her grandchildren, Michael Moreno, Danny (Adrienne) Jackson, Ricky (Becky) Jackson, Tori Mathe, Stacy Mathe, Eric (Courtney) Heide, Beth (Wayne Georgeson) Heide , Richard M. (Casey) DeLaO, Samantha DeLaO, Sarah DeLaO, Anna DeLaO, Nicholas DeLaO, Cara DeLaO, Roger DeLaO; her great-grandchildren, Steven Botsford, Rylan Mathe, Christian, Autumn and Noah Heide, Alec, Dylan and Zachary Georgeson, Christopher, Lucas and Lauren Jackson, and Ronan DeLaO; brothers and sisters, Domingo, Guadalupe, John, Raymond and Manuel Villarreal, Olga Rodriguez, Socorro Villarreal; brothers-in-law, Santiago “Jimmy” DeLaO and Miguel DeLaO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her children, Roger, Mary, Cosme Jr.; grandson, Servando Moreno Jr.; sons-in-law, Servando Moreno Sr., John Mathe; brothers and sisters, infant twins, Genaro, Lily, Filmon, Jose, Pedro, Isasis; sisters-in-law, Delfina Villerreal, Eudelia Villerreal and Molly DeLaO.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 23, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m. Memorials to St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, St. Catherine’s High School, or to the American Lung Association have been suggested.
