Jonathan 'Jon' R. Haertel

Jonathan R. Haertel, age 30, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011, due to an automobile accident. Jon was born in Racine, February 23, 1981, son of Bruce W. and Patricia R. (Nee: Cramer) Haertel.

Jon was employed by RPS Corporation working many facets, beginning in the factory and most recently as information technologist. He was an avid fisherman and was happiest going to the Haven up north with his beloved dog, Tipsey. Jon was a great guy: intelligent, funny, caring, sweet, generous and handsome. He was the “go to” guy for his friends and family. Jon was an electronics guru who enjoyed playing video games “warcraft, tekken tag,” loved “Rock Band,” and enjoyed all kinds of music especially, his favorite group, Boston. A great swimmer, he enjoyed water skiing since the age of five and also enjoyed snow skiing and golfing. Jon is irreplaceable.

He is survived by his very much loved grandmother, LouElla Haertel, and both his parents, Bruce and Patricia (Nee: Cramer) Haertel. Jon is further survived by many aunts and uncles, Robert (Mary) Haertel, Lisa (Mark) Christopherson, Carol (Edward) Banaszak, Judy (Al) Isen, Anita (Bob) Atkinson, Jim (Barb) Cramer, Marylee (Patrick) Stewart, Tom (Carol) Haertel, and his favorite Uncle Jay Haertel; cousins, Michael Banaszak, BethAnn Zanotelli, Matt Banaszak, Linda Erickson, James Vertz, Larry Vertz, Peter Vertz, Aileen Brown, Kevin Atkinson, LeeAnn Davison, Sue Williams, Ron Cramer, Laura Stewart, Tim Stewart, Becky Olson, Rick Haertel, Topher Haertel, Aaron Christopherson, Austin Christopherson, Scott Haertel, Jeff Haertel and Becca Harper; and combined with all the husbands, wives, and many children he will be greatly missed.

He is also survived by many friends, especially good friends, Jai Cairo, Jason O’Brien, Lucien Nemath and Anthony Ervin. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert J. Haertel, Leroy N. Cramer; maternal grandmother, Catherine M. Cramer; Uncle Brian Haertel; and cousins, Stephen Vertz, Tommy and Michael Haertel.

A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, August 6, 2011, at noon at St. Edward Catholic Church, 1401 Grove Ave., with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at noon. Memorials to one’s favorite charity have been suggested.
