Helen Louise Spiering, age 83, passed away Friday, July 15, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. She was born in Racine, July 17, 1927, daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Nee: Robeling) Zens.
Helen graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1945. On February 26, 1949, she was united in marriage to William D. Spiering who preceded her in death February 23, 1979. With her family she owned and operated Union Grove Auto Parts. She was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, the Secular Order of St. Augustine, the Catholic Women’s League and the St. Jude Travel Club. She was an avid Brewer and Bucks fan. Above all, it was time spent with her family that she treasured the most. She will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her children, Kathi (Gary) Manchester of Racine, Tom (Mary) Spiering of Union Grove, MaryAnne (Jerry) Dohse of New Lenox, IL, Steve (Nancy) Spiering of Union Grove, John (Lorri) Spiering of Fullerton, CA, Andy (Stacey) Spiering of Racine; 16 grandchildren, Jason, Jessica, Jeremy and Jacob Manchester, Nora and Sara Spiering, Ryan, Samantha and Aimee Spiering, Erin, Shelby, Zachary and Austin Spiering, Alyssa, Benjamin and Alexandra Spiering; a sister, Mary Liedick of Kenosha; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by brothers, Clarence (Mildred) Zens, and Edward (Bernice) Zens, and a brother-in–law, Ronald Liedick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 22, 2011, at 6 p.m. at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, 4339 Douglas Ave. Private interment will be held at St. George Cemetery, Kenosha. Relatives and friends may meet Friday at the Church from 4 p.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Rita’s Capital Campaign or St. Monica’s Senior Citizens Home have been suggested.
