Mary Jeanette (Klingenmeyer) Danoski

Mary Jeanette Danoski, age 84, passed away Friday, July 22, 2011, peacefully surrounded by loved ones at her home in Appleton, WI. She was born in Racine on August 26, 1926, daughter of the late William and Ann (Nee: Lotharius) Klingenmeyer.

Mary was a resident of Racine for 54 years, resident of Fox Lake for 25 years, moving to Appleton in 2005. She was married to Franklin Tadenn Danoski on June 25, 1949, at St. Rose Catholic Church. Mary taught in Racine for 28 years before moving to Fox Lake in 1980 where she was named Fox Lake Coordinator and served on state and national lake boards.

She was chosen “Citizen of the Year” for her work on lake ecology. From north to south, east to west, she had spoken at seminars as the “education chairwoman” of the North American Lake Management of all the North American Lakes, which is a national society. She was named “Steward of the Year” at the 1990 annual Wisconsin Association of Lakes. As a retired teacher she wrote the book (teacher manual) “Pontoon Classroom,” to help educate young people about the biological workings of a lake system. With volunteers she took students on the lake to study it. She also received many other state and national awards and recognition for her devotion of lake ecosystems.

Surviving are her daughter, Susan Anne Bleichner of Appleton; son, Thomas Tadenn Danoski of Fremont, WI; three granddaughters, Angela (Marvin) Agre, April Acklam and Sarah (Gary) Baur, all of Appleton; great-grandchildren, Tadenn, Nolan and baby Jude; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Aloyse and Alvaria Danoski of Kenosha, Hubard Wade of Racine; as well as many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin; and her great-granddaughter, Miranda Otto.

Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service to be held at the West Lawn Memorial Park Chapel on Monday, July 25, 2011, at 1 p.m.
