Anne J. Walter, age 98, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at Harmony Living Center. Anne was born in Racine on August 7, 1912, daughter of the late Albert and Victoria (Nee: Kosach) Walter.
Anne was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School and Moore’s Business School. In her early years she was employed by Miller's Flowers. In 1934 Anne became employed with the IRS, relocating to Washington, D.C., for five years and Chicago for one year, retiring from the office in Milwaukee as supervisor in 1974.
A devout Catholic, she was a member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, former member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and member of Slovak Women Jednota. Her pastimes included gardening, reading, watching the birds and chipmunks, car rides, picnics by the lake, and viewing the fall colors. Anne enjoyed her family get togethers and the company of her friends. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her nieces and nephews, Mary Larsen, Barbara (Edward) Halbur, Dan (Rose) Buse, David Buse, Ruth Graves, Kathy Goldsmith, Linda Carney; special friend, Clarence Lechner; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her infant brother, Joseph; infant sister, Victoria; sisters, Julia Carney, Martha (Frank) Levandowski, Sr. Alberta (Margaret) Walter OLVM, and Helen (Robert) Buse.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 15, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 3100 95th St., with Rev. Paul L. Raczynski officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m. Memorials to St. Catherine’s High School have been suggested.
