Lyle J. Sego

Lyle J. Sego, age 63, passed away Monday, July 25, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Lyle was born in Chicago, IL, September 21, 1947, son of the late Lyle J. and Emma L. (Nee: Long) Sego.

Lyle was a graduate of St. Francis High School, Wheaton, IL. Furthering his education, he attended Quincy College and graduated from Northeastern University. During the Vietnam War Lyle proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. On January 15, 1972, at Christ Church United Methodist in Racine he was united in marriage to Julie A. Hansen.

Lyle taught special education, history and sociology over a span of twenty-six years at St. Joseph High School, Starbuck Middle School, Mitchell Middle School, Gilmore Middle School, and Park High School, until his retirement in 2006. He loved kids and students responded wonderfully to him. Lyle also enjoyed coaching football, girls' softball, basketball, tennis, golf and bowling.

He belonged to the Old Timers Football Association, Old Timers Athletic Club, American Legion Post 310, The Boy Scouts of America, and the Texas Holdem Club. Lyle devoted his life to his family and will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of nearly forty years, Julie; his children, Eric (Jenni) Sego, Kristi (Anthony) Reed, all of Racine; his beloved grandchildren, J.K., Chance and Cassie; brother and sisters, Mel (Doris) Sego., Marianne (Jim) Hynes, Arita Sego, all of IL; numerous aunts, uncle, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Lynn; his brother, Ed; his beloved grandchild, Cloe Sego; and his beloved grandson, Vincent Alan Reed whom he rejoins in heaven.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 1, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dave Echelbarger officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Sunday at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. and Monday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a..m. Memorials to the Jim Czosnek Heart Fund, c/o Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, 9000 W. Wisconsin Ave., Wauwatosa, WI 53226, or to the Vince–mas Food Drive, c/o the Shalom Center, 1713 62nd St., Kenosha, WI 53143 have been suggested.

A very special thank you to Dr. Sriram and the nurses that helped Lyle with their loving and compassionate care.
