Edith O. Gagnon

Edith O. (nee: Olsen) Gagnon, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 26, 2009, at the age of 89. Born in 1919 in Skien, Norway, she immigrated to the United States in 1923 with her parents, Trygve and Anne Olsen, and her older sister, Borgne (Benjamin) Eckblad and settled in Racine, where she spent the rest of her life. Her younger sister, Mildred (Dan) Elstrom, was born in Racine.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, LeRoyScotty’ Scott and Glenn Gagnon. Loving mother of Ronald (Beverly) Scott and Thomas (Karen) Scott; caring stepmother of Jean Gagnon; dear grandmother of Stephen Scott, Stephanie (Ric) Shanks, and Christopher Scott; proud great-grandmother of Emily and Elizabeth Shanks; fond aunt of nieces and nephews.

A graduate of William Horlick High School, Edith worked at the Farmers and Merchants Bank and the Racine Unified School District. She was an active member of Racine Bible Church for over fifty years, teaching Sunday school classes and conducting Bible studies. She loved socializing with and entertaining her family and friends, attending church activities, cooking and baking, knitting, traveling, and playing a good game of Scrabble. Her presence will be missed.

A memorial service will be held at Racine Bible Church, 12505 Spring St., Sturtevant, WI 53177, on Saturday, January 31, 2009, at 11 a.m. There will be a visitation at the church on Saturday before services from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Private interment will be at Graceland Cemetery.
