She was born in Racine on March 4, 1940, the daughter of the late Henry and LaVerne (nee: Hahn) Potthoff. Sandie graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1958.She worked at J.C. Penny for over 20 years in the women’s accessory department. On April 25, 1959, she married Gene N. Sessa at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church. They would have celebrated their 50th Anniversary this coming April.
Sandie was a member of St. Richard Catholic Church. She enjoyed Bingo, taking gambling trips, cooking, crocheting, and most importantly spending time with grandchildren.
Surviving are her devoted husband, Gene; their children, Tamra (Fred) Radspinner of Racine, Eugene G. Sessa of Nashville, TN, Theresa (James) Bishop, Dianna (Scott) Taleck all of Racine; five grandchildren, Stephanie Bishop, Kristy Radspinner, Jimmy Bishop, Sammi and Megan Taleck; special friend and “sister,” Evie Loughan; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, her sister, Donna, preceded her in death.
Her life and funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Ronald J. Gramza officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
