Rose Marie Stracke, age 82, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at Harbor House North, Kenosha. She was born in Omaha, NE, on August 19, 1926, daughter of the late Dr. Charles and Rose (Nee: McGovern) Ulrich.
Rose Marie was raised in Kenosha and graduated from Kenosha High School. She went on to graduate from Rosary College in Oak Park, IL, and received her Master's of Science in Biology from Marquette University. It was at Marquette that she met John and on October 13, 1951, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Kenosha, they were united in marriage. Rose Marie was currently a member of St. Lucy’s Catholic Church. She loved playing solitaire especially while football was on the television. Above all, she dedicated her life to her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her husband of 57 years, John Stracke Sr.; three children, John (Patricia) Stracke of Racine, Rose Ann (Darrell) Beth of Racine, Eileen Heather McGovern (Manlio Daversa) of Chicago, IL; four grandchildren, Aaron J. Stracke, Nolan Stracke, John Cobian and Kayla Smith; step-grandchildren, Robert Beth and Lisa Ellis; a brother, Charles (Jane) Ulrich, Jr.; special friend, Edith Isenberg; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Claire Ulrich.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 9, 2009, at 10 a.m. at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., with Reverend Mark R. Jones officiating. Private interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Kinzie Avenue. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Thursday at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. and Friday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association have been suggested.
