Sylvia (nee: Sheleski) Thompson, 80, passed away on Wednesday, January, 21, 2009, at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints. She was born in Menasha, Wisconsin, on February 17, 1928, the daughter of John Sr. and Martha (nee: Scjeck) Sheleski.
Sylvia graduated from Menasha High School, class of “1946." She was a faithful member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church. Sylvia retired from Racine Unified School District Food Service Department as a cook. She found great enjoyment in playing Bingo, cards, crocheting and especially being with her family.
Sylvia is survived by her children; Mark E. Thompson of Punta Gorda, FL, Nona (William Sr.) Besaw of Kaukauna, and Cindy (Guy) Lemke of Kenosha; four grandchildren, Jeremy Mizzen, Tara Besaw, Sara Besaw and Adam Thompson; four great-grandchildren, Kali, Kara, Hunter and Arianna; brother, Robert Sheleski, sister, Frances Sheleski and former husband, Dallas Thompson of Menasha. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Hillard and John Sheleski, and one sister, Marie Klein.
A memorial service honoring Sylvia’s life will be held at Sturino Funeral Home on Sunday, January 25, 2009, at 4 p.m. with Rev. Ray Elam officiating. In keeping with Sylvia’s wishes cremation has taken place. Burial will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Menasha. There will be a memorial visitation at the funeral home on Sunday from 2: p.m. until service time.
