Hans Joseph Mauer, 81, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2009, at Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove. He was born in Germany on April 2, 1927, the son of August and Elizabeth (nee: Vahle) Mauer.
Hans served in the United States Army during World War II. On May 24, 1952, he was united in marriage to Clarice Marie Boehme at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church. Hans was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, VFW Post 1391, the Elks Lodge No. 252 and secretary/treasurer of Hamlyn Society. He was an instructor of machine operations, for Gateway technical College of Racine and Kenosha. Hans was an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer and bowler.
Surviving are brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Merrill (Germain) Boehme of Waukesha and Thomas (Pat) Boehme of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clarice, on January 5, 2001; parents; brother and sister-in-law, Herman (Kathryn) Mauer; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alvin (Florence) Boehme.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday, January 17, 2009, at 10 a.m. There will be a visitation at the church from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m..
Memorials in Hans’ memory to the Eye Institute at Froedtert Memorial Hospital, 9200 Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53226 have been suggested.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at the Union Grove Veterans Home (Boland Hall) for the kind care for Mr. Mauer over the past month.

Hi i was wondering if Mr.Hans Mauer had any children that are currently living in the Racine area and if so what are their names. My father might know one of his sons and was just curious if this was his father. Thankx for your help
