Dr. Lewis Turner III passed away at his home in Racine, on January 30, 2009. He was born in Kenosha on November 25, 1922, to Lewis Turner Jr. and Sigrid Larsen.
Dr. Turner enlisted in the Army where he was selected for Officer Cadet School. He achieved the rank of 1st Lieutenant and served in the Philippines during WWII. After the war he married Jane Downing King from Wilmington North Carolina, graduated from Medical School at the University of Pittsburg and came home to Kenosha where he practiced family medicine until his retirement. Dr. Turner successfully raced Standard bred horses at Wisconsin county fairs and at parimutuel race tracks in Illinois, was a private pilot and an avid long distance runner.
He is survived by his sisters, Dorothy Carroll and Carolyn Larsen; children, Lewis, Lacy and Ivy; and four grandchildren
The family will hold a small, private memorial at Sturino Funeral Home in accordance with his wishes.
