Elizabeth E. Bevry

Elizabeth “Liz” E. (nee: Mevis) Bevry, 74, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2009, at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie. She was a lifelong resident of Racine, born on June 17, 1934, the daughter of LeRoy and Myra (nee: Gleason) Cichanofsky.

Liz was a graduate of Washington Park High School, Class of “1952.” She continued her high school friendships throughout her life meeting monthly to play cards. Elizabeth eloped with the love of her life, Kenneth Bevry on December 31, 1954, in Racine. Together they enjoyed raising and showing horses for 40 years. Liz especially found great enjoyment in giving special attention to their young horses. Liz and Ken were proud members of the Arabian Horse Association for 33 years. Liz was especially proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them and will be greatly missed.

Liz is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Ken; children, Laura (Ted) Chacon and their children, Katherine (Jeff) Kihm, Carolyn (Kevin) Anthony, Jennie (Matt) O’Malley and Nick (Kristy) DeLeon; Susan Bevry and her children, Benjamin, Rebecca and Amanda Koke; and Kenneth (Connie) Bevry Jr. and their children, Carley, Corbin and Mackenzie Bevry; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Judith Gott. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1100 Erie St., on Monday March 23, 2009, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Ricardo Martin officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation at the Sturino Funeral Home on Sunday, March 22, 2009, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. and at church on Monday from 9 a.m. until mass time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to C.N.S.V. Vasculitis Foundation, P.O. Box 28660 Kansas City, MO. 64188, have been suggested by the family.

The Bevry family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to Dr. Barboi and the Froedtert Hospital staff for the fine care given to Liz during her illness.
