Harriette E. Petersen

Harriette E. Petersen, 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday March 15, 2009.

Harriette was born in Camanche, IA, on April 23, 1921, to Hans and Inez (nee, Gordon) Thomsen. She married Clarence Petersen in Clinton, IA, on August 25, 1939. He preceded her in death. Harriette was a member of Racine Bible Church for 47 years. She was involved in the Child Evangelism Fellowship, and was a teacher for both Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Harriette was also a member of Kings Daughters of Grace Baptist Church, the Guild Singers and Racine County Homemakers Club.

Harriette is survived by her children, Martha Ann (Lee) McInnis and Dan (Shirley) Petersen; four grandchildren, Kari (Robin) Luymes, Scott (Christine) Petersen, Todd (Wendy) McInnis and Chris McInnis; eleven great-grandchildren, Amanda, Conner, Dillon, Jack, Brandon, Zachary, Alex, Jessica, Scottie, Clayton and Nathan; and sister-in-law, Valora Petersen. Harriette is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Marti Newsom and Anna Hugunin.

Funeral services for Harriette will be held at Racine Bible Church, 12505 Spring St., on Friday, March 20, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Rev. John Miesel officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials may be directed to Racine Bible Church.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center for all of their loving and compassionate care of Harriette.
