Naples Florida- Thomas G. Johnson 79, formerly of Racine, passed away at Barrington Terrace in Naples Florida, on Sunday March 29, 2009. He was born in Racine on September 21, 1929, the son of Albin and Amelia (nee: Voss) Johnson.
Tom was united in marriage to Janice M. Chvilicek in Holy Communion Lutheran Church on November 25, 1950. He served in the Wisconsin National Guard, Battery ‘B’ 132nd A.A.A. for six years. Tom was employed with Ameritech, retiring on February 28, 1991, after 43 years of service. He was member of the Telephone Pioneers, Y.M.C.A., Seniors Men’s Golf League at Johnson Park, and Library of the Blind “Talking Book Repair Racine.”
Tom is survived by two sons, Mark T. (Catherine) Johnson and Scott C. Johnson; two grandchildren, Kelli and David Johnson all of Racine; and nephews, Daniel and David Johnson of Austin, Texas. He is further survived by numerous cousins, other relatives and dear friends in Racine and Florida.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Janice on March 22, 1995; son, Gary M. Johnson; parents; brother, Robert Johnson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Vallberg Chvilicek; brother-in law, Paul Chvilicek; and special friends, Joanne Moran and Margaret Luke.
Remembrance Services will be held at West Lawn Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at 2 p.m.. There will be a time to meet with family and friends at the chapel on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to American Lung Assoc., 13100 W. Lisbon Rd. Suite 700, Brookfield, WI 53005-9923 have been suggested by the family.
