Ivora “Skin Goody” Turner, 77, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Tuesday, March 24, 2009. He was born in Myrtle, Mississippi, on September 19, 1931, son of the late Leroy and Hattie (nee: Harris) Turner. He moved to Racine as a young man, and on November 23, 1959, was married to Mary L. Johnson. Mr. Turner enjoyed a 42-year career at JI Case where he was a fork truck driver.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; and their children, Alice Turner of Chatsworth, CA, Derek Turner of Englewood, CA, Kevin Turner, Vicki (Courtney) Turner-Barlow, and Bradly Turner all of Racine; six grandchildren, Taeli Shea Turner, Chelsea, Christian, and Camille Barlow, Bradley and Bryson Turner; four brothers, Henry, Othella, and William Turner, and Joseph (Jennifer) Ticer, all of Racine; his aunt, Ann Canady of Peoria, IL; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Lura Kirk; and brothers, Vivian, George, and Terrell Turner.
Homegoing services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 3, 2009, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop L.L. Kirby officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation and viewing will begin in the church at 10 a.m.
