Sturtevant – Lloyd Vinton Newman Jr., 80, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare – All Saints on Friday, March 13, 2009.
Lloyd was born in Racine to the late Lloyd V. and Alma (nee: Krupp) Newman Sr. on September 5, 1928. He had lived in Racine and Sturtevant his whole life. He was united in marriage to Nancy Peterson on November 10, 1956, and had been married to her for 15 years.
Mr. Newman was proud to serve in the United States Army during World War II. He was employed by Bosch Company for 21 years, retiring in 1993. He continued to work at George Webb's until he was 79 years old. On April 24, 1982, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Harmann who preceded him in death.
Lloyd was a special man in that after Marilyn's death he continued to raise and care for Marilyn's children. He considered himself their father. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge and the Milwaukee Dog Training Club. He took pride in gardening and enjoyed fishing and bowling.
Lloyd will be sadly missed by his eight children, Dan Newman, Greg (Bonnie) Newman, Jody (Lynn Tremelling) Newman, Brian Newman, Sheila (David) Salinas, Timothy (Betsy) Harmann, Dennis Harmann, and Denise (Bob) Milkie; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother, Bob (Joyce) Newman; his special friend and former wife, Nancy; and many other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by one son, David Harmann; one grandson, David Baer; and two sisters, Elaine and Dorothy.
Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Mortenson officiating. Interment with full Military Honors will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.
