Clarence Schneider, 86, passed away at his home with his family at his side, on Sunday, February 1, 2009.
Clarence was born in Greeley, CO, on February 25, 1922, to John and Amila (nee, Kramer) Schneider. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. Clarence married the former Joyce Matson in Racine on June 15, 1946.
He worked for Matson Plastering Company for over 30 years, retiring in 1983. Clarence was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. In his retirement he did woodcarving and tied his own flies. Clarence and Joyce loved to travel in their motor home throughout the United States. They can proudly say they had visited all 50 states. They also loved to travel with their grandchildren and good friends, the Johnsons.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Joyce Schneider; children, Richter (Sharon) Schneider, Ronald (Debbie) Schneider and Catherine (Lawrence) Winterle; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Selma Graves, Lillian Thompson, Naomi Schlepper and Virginia (Lloyd) Price; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Jackie Matson. Clarence is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Randolph Schneider; sisters, Vera Justice, Esther Cochran and Gloria Juren; brothers, Jake Leih and Harold Schneider; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sally and Art Frost.
Memorial services for Clarence will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 4340 Six Mile Road, on Thursday, February 5, 2009, at noon with Rev. Daniel L. Hinrichs officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice Alliance or the family.
