Elmer A. Ericksen, 81, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2009, at Harbor House. He was a lifelong resident of Racine, born on June 10, 1927, the son of Anker and Emmy (nee: Jorgensen) Ericksen.
On May 27, 1950 he was united in marriage to Audrey Buchman at Bethania Lutheran Church. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Elmer was a member of Bethania Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge and Danish Brotherhood. He had been employed with Moxness and had worked for many years in construction, including Welling Construction. Elmer built the family home and continued to enjoy woodworking. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and cooking.
Surviving are three daughters, Claudia (Milo) Jehich, Cindy Ericksen and Carolyn (fiancĂ©e Roger Jorgensen) Ericksen; son, Ken (Gail) Ericksen; seven grandchildren, Joe, Lisa, April, Tiffany, Amanda, Amy and Aaron; ten great-grandchildren; brother and sisters, Fayna “Helene” (Ben) Wasik, Jens (Kay) Ericksen and Elsie Thompson; brother-in-law, Art Petzke. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey, on July 6, 1980; sister, Doris Petzke; and brother-in-law, Bob Thompson.
Services will be held at Bethania Lutheran Church, 4120 Wright Ave., on Monday, May 4, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Steve Wohlfeil officiating. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be a visitation at the church on Monday before services from 10 a.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Alzheimer’s Assoc, 6130 W. National Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53214, or to Wisconsin Parkinson Assoc., 945 N. 12th St. Suite. 4602, Milwaukee, WI 53201-0342, have been suggested.
