Norma Margaret Pinekenstein

Norma M. Pinekenstein (Nee. Pallesen), 86, passed away at Ridgewood Healthcare Center on April 26, 2009. She was a lifelong resident of Racine, born July 7, 1922 to Nels C. and Sophia (nee: Petersen) Pallesen.

Norma and the late Henry Pinekenstein, Jr. were married on May 27, 1944, at Grace Lutheran Church. Norma and Henry were best known for their fruit and vegetable stand located on the corner of Highways 20 and 31. Norma was also a teller at the First National Bank, a secretary for Racine Milk Producers, a foster parent, a school secretary for Racine Unified, a real estate agent, a caller for substitute teachers for Racine Unified. She was also active in the community, on the Racine Public Library Board, and various community, school and church committees. Norma loved to cook and often invited large groups for a meal. Norma loved to be with people and served others with a happy heart.

Norma will be dearly missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Ruth P. (Paul) Guenther, both of Racine; grandchildren, Dr. Kris Ann (Christopher) Schultz of St. Paul, Minn., Elizabeth Pinekenstein of Mukwonago, Bridget (Rich) Meyers of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Austin and Erika Guenther both of Racine; and great-grandchildren, Noah Henry Schultz and Lucy Lynn Schultz of St. Paul, Minn.; sister Betty Mikulecky of Racine. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.

She was proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Henry Jr. on March 22, 2008; son, Henry; brothers, Ralph Pallesen, Al Pallesen and Peter Pallesen; sisters, Helen Jensen and Marie Brackett.

Funeral services for Norma will be held at the Lutheran Chapel of the Cross, 1426 Fancher Road, on Friday, May 1, 2009, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Daniel Feldscher officiating. Private burial will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. There will be visitation at the church on Friday from 1 p.m. until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lutheran Chapel of the Cross have been suggested by the family.
