Sturtevant – Wayne George Prechtel, 66, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Friday, April 24, 2009.
Wayne was born in Milwaukee on November 1, 1942, to the late Alfred and Adeline (nee: Magnus) Prechtel. He graduated from Nathan Hale High School of West Allis in 1960.
He faithfully served our country as a military police officer with the United States Army Reserves. Prior to his retirement, Wayne enjoyed working for Spee-Dee Packaging Machinery. Earlier in his career, Wayne worked as a Parts Manager for various auto dealerships.
With a profound faith in God, he was a proud member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Caledonia. As a boating enthusiast, Wayne had been a member of the Racine Yacht Club. Among his other interests, he enjoyed classic cars, playing pool, bicycling and music -- especially singing and playing the guitar. Above all, he loved and cherished being in the surroundings of his family and close friends.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Ronald Brandt; adored granddaughter, Hailey Brandt; special friends, Linda Prechtel, Sharyn Prechtel and Sharman Turek.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Valerie Prechtel, who died of a brain tumor at the tender age of 2.
A memorial service celebrating Wayne’s life will be held in funeral home on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, at 7 p.m. with Rev. Emile Burgess officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. Private interment of Wayne’s cremated remains will take place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Muskego.
A heartfelt note of thanks to Sharman and Linda for all their compassionate care and support during the past two weeks; and to all our friends and co-workers for the many prayers, phone calls and sincere understanding during this difficult time. May God bless all of you!
