SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA – Jennie B. (Nee: Wojszko) Hort, 90, formerly of Racine, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2009, in Scottsdale, AZ, following a short illness.
She was born on March 23, 1919, in Milwaukee to the late Stanley and Victoria (nee: Swiderski) Wojszko. The family moved to Racine and as a young girl she attended St. Stanislaus Catholic School and graduated from Washington Park High School in 1937.
In August 1941, Jennie was united in marriage to Frederick Westberg at St. Stanislaus Church in Racine. He preceded her in death in 1959. She worked at Motor Specialty and thoroughly enjoyed her 21 years working in the gift department at Zahn's Dept. Store. In 1966 she married August (Augie) Hort. They enjoyed camping at Army Lake for many summers. They both retired and moved to Arizona in 1982. Augie preceded her in death in January 2003.
She was thoughtful, warm, and took time for others. Her favorite pastime was knitting. She knit caps for breast cancer patients and enjoyed giving her knitted items to others. All who knew her called her “Sweetheart.” Her faith was evident in the way she lived her life.
She will be deeply missed by daughter, Carole (David) Stuck of Milwaukee; son, Jim Westberg of Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren, Tammy (Bryan) Weems, Dan (Margaret) Westberg, Keath Stuck and Sarah (Kevin) Martin; eleven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Walter Wojszko; one sister, Delores (John) Sullivan; and son, Freddy Westberg.
Family and friends are invited to meet at Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel, Hwy 32, on Saturday morning April 18, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. for a visitation. A service will follow at 11 a.m. with Reverend John Aiello officiating.
Friends of Jennie are welcomed to donate to their favorite charity in remembrance of Jennie.
