Sturtevant -- Geraldene J. Bartek, age 86, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2009, at her residence. Geraldene was born in Harvard, IL, on February 5, 1923, daughter of the late James A. and Judith A. (Nee: Carlson) Dennis.
During World War II Geraldene served as a Wave in the United States Navy. On April 29, 1950, she was united in marriage to Milton Bartek who preceded her in death, January 1, 1983. In her early years she was employed by J.I. Case Company. Geraldene worked as a caterer for thirty-two years, most recently at Wingspread, and through this endeavor she shared her love for fine food and made many long-lasting friendships.
Geraldene was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Her pastimes included bowling, playing Scrabble, and the Summit Avenue Club, but most of all she treasured time spent with her grandchildren and great-granddaughters. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include her daughter, Diane G. Dallmann of Sturtevant; her four grandchildren, Emily Diane (David) Valerius, Benjamin Joel (Kyle Bradish) Dallmann, Jacob William (Jennifer) Dallmann, and Rachel Lee Dallmann; her two great-grandchildren, Harper Emily and Julia Rae; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her premature sons, David and Donald, and her brother and sister-in-law, Lyle (Leola) Dennis.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 11, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. Family and friends may meet Saturday at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Private interment will be held at the Bohemian National Cemetery. Per the familiy’s request, please perform an act of kindness in memory of Gerry or memorials to the Katie Sawasky Fund for chronically ill children, c/o Children’s Hospital of Milwaukee have been suggested.
