LaVerne J. Stephens, age 75, passed away Friday, April 3, 2009, at Oakridge Care Center. LaVerne, “Little Stevie” (“Shorty,” “Pete”) was born in Dodgeville, WI, on September 30, 1933, son of the late Milo and Ivy (Nee: Tremelling) Stephens. During the Korean Conflict he served in the United States Army. Little Stevie enjoyed working and was employed for twenty-nine years at Young Radiator.
Survivors include his brother, Harold (Ruthann) Stephens; three sisters, Judy (Bob) Cyon, Beverly (Dave) Sullivan, Dolores (Paul) Winkler; special friend, Gail J. Ford and little dog “Gus”of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Donna.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at 11 a.m. Interment with full military honors will follow at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may meet Wednesday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service.
