PEMBINE, WI – Darrell D. Hanson, 66, formerly of Racine, passed away Friday morning, November 14, 2008. at his residence, following a brief, courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Racine to George and Viola (Nee: Pulda) Hanson on April 29, 1942.
He attended William Horlick High School. He also served in the U.S. Army. On July 7, 1969, he was united in marriage to Nancy Trump. Darrell was employed at Webster Electric/Danfoss as an industrial electrician. Upon retirement, Darrell and Nancy fulfilled a lifelong dream of moving to the North Woods of Wisconsin in the town of Pembine, where they would spend all of their vacation time. Darrell loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed gardening, kayaking, wood working, but his favorite pastime was fly fishing. He will be dearly and deeply missed by all who knew him.
Darrell is survived by his loving wife Nancy; their five children, Robin (Arthur) Thomas, Linda (Ronald) Georgeson, Henry (Tess) Zies, Tom (Karen) Zies, and Wendy (Jonah) Marciniak; eight grandchildren, Sara, Christy, Rachel, James, Josh, Nick, Mike and Izariah; seven great-grandchildren Brandon, Andrew, Ashley, Marissa, Abigail, Sammy and Kaylynn; sisters, Esther Blank and Marilyn Acklam; many cousins, nieces and nephews; also his beloved Rex and Rosie. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George Hanson; and a sister, Arlene Foley.
A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, November 20, 2008, at 6 p.m. with Rev. Brad Van Fossen officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Thursday from 5 p.m. until time of service. Memorials to the family have been suggested.
