Isabel (Alperovitz) Tannenbaum

Isabel Tannenbaum, age 96, passed away Monday, November 3, 2008, at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center. Isabel was born in Racine on July 10, 1912, daughter of the late David and Fannie Alperovitz.

On October 7, 1939, in Chicago she was united in marriage to Max Tannenbaum who preceded her in death, July 11, 1981. Isabel and her husband were known for “famous rye bread and bagels” as owners and operators of the Supreme Bakery, 1242 State St., in Racine for over fifty years. She was a member of the Beth Israel Sinai Temple.

Survivors include her nephew, Gar (Sharon) Alperovitz of Washington D.C.; her grand-nephew and niece, David Alperovitz of Arlington, MA, and Kari Alperovitz-Bichell of Annapolis, MD; other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brother, Julius Alperovitz.

Graveside funeral services will be held at the Racine Jewish Memorial Cemetery, 612 Lathrop Ave., on Thursday, November 6, 2008, at 1 p.m. with Rabbi Martyn Adelberg officiating.
