Ferdinand M. Sajdik,87, passed away in Thompsonville, IL, on Tuesday, Nov 4, 2008. He was born in Wauwatosa on March 1, 1921, to the late Paul and Appolina (nee: Cecaca) Sajdik. He lived in Racine since 1960. He served in the United States Army during World War II, serving in England, Holland, Denmark, Austria, Italy and the D-Day Invasion of Normandy.
He was employed at A & P Grocery in Milwaukee and Racine, then worked at St. Luke's Hospital in the Security Division. He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church of Racine.
He is survived by his children, Lisa Burczak, Brian Downes, Ann Ruch, Terrence Downes, Susan Gilhart, Phillip Downes, Frances Wright, Barbara Litz, Mary Schinkowitch, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his two wives, Noreen and Joan; brother, Joe; sister, Ann; and a son, Lawrence.
A Memorial Service with full military honors will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery 21731 Spring St., Union Grove, on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Inurnment will follow.
Memorials in memory of Mr. Sajdik to Second Presbyterian Church of Racine have been suggested.
