Darvin J. Christian

Darvin J. Christian, age 80, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2009, at the Hospice House, Pleasant Prairie, WI. Darvin was born in Theresa, WI, on August 15, 1929, son of the late Herman and Selma (Nee: Nickel) Christian.

Darvin was a graduate of Mayville High School. On March 18, 1950, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hartford, WI, he was united in marriage to Leola V. Budahn. He was employed by Package Boiler Burner Service Company for over twenty-five years, retiring in 1991. Previously he had worked at the Milwaukee Road Company for seventeen years. Most recently, for the last sixteen years, he was working with the Milwaukee Metro Auto Auction, last working June 2, 2009.

He was a long-time dedicated member of St. John Lutheran Church. Darvin was a member of the Wisconsin Sportsmen Association, Racine County Conservation League, Pheasants Forever, and the Theresa Rod and Gun Club. He loved hunting and gardening and throughout his life enjoyed photography. He will always be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Leola; his daughters and sons-in-law, Susan (Gary) Wemmert of Pewaukee, Bonnie (Tom) Urdiales of Sun Prairie, Carol (Jon) Londre of Racine; his three grandchildren, Jill (Phil) Numrich of Minneapolis, MN, Sarah Urdiales (fiancé, Eric Steinfeldt) of Sun Prairie, Christian Wemmert of Wauwatosa; his great-granddaughter, Emilie Numrich; two sisters, Lorraine Steinbach, Bernice Haag, both of Mayville, WI; brother-in-law, Ronald (Marlene) Budahn of West Bend, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Herbert, Hilbert, Ewald, Donald, Hertha Vorlab and Erna Schrab.

Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1501 Erie St., on Thursday, October 1, 2009, at 3 p.m. with Rev. Daniel Quinn officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 1 p.m. until time of service. Interment will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Town of Theresa, WI, on Friday at 11 a.m.. Memorials to St. John Lutheran Church or Hospice Alliance have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Michael Mullane and the staff at the Hospice Alliance Home for their loving and compassionate care.
