John R. Siebrands, 80, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare on Wednesday, September 30, 2009.
John was born in Herman, MN, on June 17, 1929, to John and Deana (nee, Harms) Siebrands. He served in the U.S. Army Combat Engineers, spending 18 months in Korea during the war. John married the former Lois M. Phillips; they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in December. He was employed by Payne & Dolan for over 22 years. John and Lois also owned and operated O’ Johnny’s Taverns in both Lake Park and Douglas Avenue.
John is survived by his wife: Lois M. Siebrands; daughter, Sheila (Mike) Andresen; step-children, Roger (Diane) Phillips, Dickie (DorRayne) Phillips and Karen (Byron) Linton; grandchildren, Eddie (Staci) Andresen, Lisa Andresen and Connie Andresen; great-grandchildren, Cody, Reese, Michael, Renee, Cyrus, Dylan, Matthew, Andie, Sarah, Jackie and Kadi; and sister, Terri (Myron) Kanyuh. John is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Anna Mae and her husband and niece.
Funeral service for John will be held at the funeral home on Monday, October 5, 2009, at 7 p.m. with Rev. Carol Baumgartner officiating. Inurnment will take place in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5 p.m. until the time of services. Memorials to the American Lung Association have been suggested.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Bader and the 2nd floor nurses at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare for all of their care and compassion and also to very dear friends Dee and Pat Williams.
