Evelyn C. (Braun) Jonas

Evelyn C. Jonas, age 82, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2009, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. Evelyn was born in Racine, February 14, 1927, daughter of the late Frank and Clara (Nee: Mueller) Braun and was raised on the Braun family farm.

She was united in marriage to Donald B. Jonas on November 16, 1946. He preceded her in death, May 6, 1969. To this union thirteen children, fourteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren were born. Evelyn continued to raise her family after her husband’s death. She was a devoted wife and mother, loved by all who knew her. Evelyn was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Kathleen (John) Sardino of Racine, Richard (Mary Ann) Jonas of Oregon, WI, Thomas (Del) Jonas of Pembine, WI, Jeffrey (Lynn) Jonas, Susan Jonas, Bill Jonas, all of Racine, James Jonas, and Donald (Christina) Jonas, Jr., all of Las Vegas, NV; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Jonas of Washington; daughter-in-law, Gayle Jonas of Kenosha; fourteen grandchildren, Erika (Jon) Hamilton, and daughters, Madeline and Grace, Sara Anderson and fiancé Daniel Spaulding, Benjamin (Tammylynne) Jonas and son Benjamin, Scott Jonas, Lisa and Luke Jonas, Kyle, Kory and Klayton Jonas, Anthony (Nicole) Jonas, Jason, Jamie Lynn, and Casey Jonas, and Jacob Van Lent; brothers and sister, Frank Braun, Joanne Penza, Jerry (Sue) Braun, Donald (Carole) Braun; sister-in-law, Rita Braun; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her children, Robert, John, Joseph, Sharon and Gerard Jonas; brother, Edmund Braun; sister and brother-in-law, Cecelia and Daniel Dailey; brother-in-law, Donald Penza; and sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Braun and Bonnie Larsen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring St., on Friday, September 18, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Rev. William J. Dietzler officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. Memorials to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church or to St. Joseph Catholic Church have been suggested.

The family would like to thank the staff at Community Care, Willowgreen, Stafford Manor, and Oak Ridge for their kindness and care extended to Evelyn. Also most recently our thanks and gratitude to the Wheaton Franciscan staff for the excellent palliative care given to our mother in her final stages of life.

My condolences to Aunt Evelyn's family, i always found her to be a warm caring individual and believe she is now with God (whom is obviously happy she is there.
