Mrs. Delores A. Kohn, 74, went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 8, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-All Saints.
Delores was born on November 20, 1936, in Orangeville, IL, to the late Martin VanBuren and Gladys (nee: Schulz) Reeser. She was united in marriage to Homer L. Kohn on November 16, 1957. She graduated from Orangeville High School “Class of 1955” before attending Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, where she earned an evening school diploma. The wife of a career military chaplain, Delores was a devoted homemaker no matter where the family was stationed. She had a love of gardening, especially flowers, and enjoyed her travels both throughout the U.S. and abroad with her husband. She was very people oriented and made friends wherever she went. She was also a motherly figure to many people, especially to the servicemen her husband, Homer, ministered to on base.
Delores will be dearly missed by her husband, Homer; children Michael Kohn of Racine, Kim (Loren) Walburg of Rockford, MI, and Naomi (Mike) Nyboer of Jenison, MI., grandchildren, Lauren (Brad) Gustafson, Justin and Jason Walburg, Collin, Shelby, Bryce, and Jarred Nyboer; a sister, Loriene (Johannes) Vanderwal; three sisters-in-law, Joan Reeser, Joanie Reeser and Jean Zimmerman.
