Freda H. (Ritz) Donovan

Freda H. Donovan, age 101, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011, at Mt. Carmel Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Burlington, WI. Freda was born in Milwaukee, WI, on August 12, 1909, daughter of the late Frederick and Magdalena (Nee: Ubert) Ritz.

On July 14, 1934, she was united in marriage to William J. Donovan, who preceded her in death in 1987. In her younger years she belonged to several bowling leagues. Freda was a member of the Harmony Club of Burlington and St. Catherine’s Guild. Freda enjoyed crocheting and will be remembered for her beautiful afghans she gave to the family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Jensen of Racine; her six grandsons, Michael (Kathy) Jensen of Union Grove, Brian (Maryann) Jensen of Racine, Kevin (Jewel) Jensen of Lake Bluff, IL, Daniel (Laura) Jensen of Waterford, Richard Jensen of Racine, Christopher Jensen of Racine; nine great-grandchildren, Megan, Kyle, Elizabeth, Samantha, Sean, Drew, Reid, Jeremiah, and Tyler; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Richard Jensen; and brother, Edward (Maggie) Ritz.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 27, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 305 First St., Waterford, with Rev. Eugene I. Doda officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Mt. Carmel Resident Council have been suggested.

Freda’s family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Mt. Carmel for their loving and compassionate care.
