Floris M. (Gausche) Barta

Floris M. Barta, age 92, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at her residence. Floris was born in Racine, March 14, 1919, daughter of the late Otto H. and Marie (Nee: Hinkelmann) Gausche.

On May 20, 1947, in New York, Floris was united in marriage to Jess J. Barta, who preceded her in death, March 16, 2005. Floris was employed with the FBI during World War II and also worked at Young Radiator Manufacturing. She loved life and dearly cherished her wonderful friendships. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her special friends, David and Edie Halvorsen, Jim and Karen Romanowski, Carol Straube, Carol Kamenar and Peter Glowacki, just to name a few.

Floris wanted to especially remember her tender caregivers Andrea Elverman and Amber Szulczewski. They are truly angels that walk amongst us. In addition, she spoke often of her fellow residents/friends at The Atrium. They filled the void left by the passing of her late husband, Jess. Lastly, she will miss her cat, Lady.

A celebration of Floris’s life will be held Tuesday, May 17, 2010, at 3 p.m. at The Atrium, 3900 Main St., with Reverend Walter Hermanns officiating. Memorials to The Salvation Army or Humane Society have been suggested.
