Robert A. Hantschel

Robert A. Hantschel, age 52, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Robert was born in Racine, May 14, 1958, son of the late James J. and Virginia M. (Nee: Larsen) Hantschel.

On October 6, 1979, Robert was united in marriage to Peggy J. King. He was employed by Modine Manufacturing for many years until his retirement in 2003. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed golfing, bowling and loved attending Brewer games, mostly for the brats. Robert was a model train enthusiast, but his true passion was helping others in need. He treasured time spent with his family and will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his loving wife of thirty-one years, Peggy; his children, Steven (Emily) Hantschel, Amy Hantschel, Julie Hantschel; his granddaughter, Payton “Peapod”; father-in-law, James King; brother and sisters, James (Barbara) Hantschel, Linda (Reuben) Sanchez, Cheryl Novine; sisters-in-law, Nancy (Michael) Porter, Carol (Richard) Smith, Debbie King; his canine friends affectionately known as his “2 boys," Jasper and Benson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Catharine King; brothers-in-law, Patrick Novine, Brian King.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 7, 2011, at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Private interment will be held. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Saturday at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2:30 p.m.

Robert’s family wishes to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Zablotney, Dr. Schneider, and Dr. Bandealy for their loving and compassionate care.
