Augustine 'Evy' Schiller

BURLINGTON- Augustine “Evy” (nee: Haglund) Schiller, 91, passed away at Mt. Carmel Medical & Rehab. Center on Wednesday November 11, 2009.

She was born in Champion, Michigan, on March 22, 1918, the daughter of Ehard and Eva (nee: Arsenault) Haglund.

Evy was united in marriage to Gustav Schiller on December 7, 1940, in Racine at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. In addition she was also a member of Holy Name Catholic Church.

In her earlier years, Evy was employed at Hamilton Beach and was assistant manager of Three Sisters Clothing Store at Elmwood Plaza. Evy found great enjoyment as a member of the Belles and Bowes Square Dancing Club and Circle Eight Square Dancing Club.

Evy is survived by her children, William “Bill” (Karla) Schiller and Sue (Royal) Latshaw. She is also survived by grandchildren, Ryan (Martha) Schiller, Rhonda (Raj) Sutaria, Renee (Brian) Ray, Kelly (Scott) Martyn, Kenneth (Amanda) Seager, Michelle Latshaw and her fiancé, John Benincasa, Robin Latshaw and Tara (Karl) Breithaupt.

Evy is further survived by great-grandchildren, Olivia and Karly Schiller, Asher and Amaya Sutaria, Kyle and Autumn Ray, Heather (George) Drury, David (Hannah) Martyn, Kenneth Seager Jr., Avianna and Inez Latshaw and great-great-grandchildren, Ethan, Alice and Everett Drury. Also, brother Al (Jackie) Haglund and son-in-law, Dick Tremmel further survive her as well as nieces and nephews.

Evy was preceded in death by her husband, Gustav, in September of 1987; daughter, Mary Alice Tremmel on June 9, 2008; and grandson, Capt. Rhett Schiller, U. S. Army, 82nd Airborne, K.I.A., in Balad Ruz, Iraq, on November 16, 2006.

In keeping with the request of the Schiller family, private services with Rev. Ronald Gramza of St. Richard’s Catholic Church were held at Sturino Funeral Home with burial at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials in Evy’s name may be directed to Wisconsin Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, c/o Dr. Sanjay Asthana, 2870 University Ave. Suite. 106, Madison, WI 53705.
