Frederick J. Prudhom

Frederick J. Prudhom, age 77, died Saturday, November 21st, 2009.

Raised and born in Racine, WI, and resident of Coleman, WI, Fred was a graduate of Racine Saint Catherine’s High School; a veteran, serving in the USMC from 1952 to 1954; and a fire fighter, retiring as a Captain with the Racine Fire Department in 1987 after 31 years of service. An avid traveler, student of history and talented limerick writer, he explored most of South and Central America and the Indian sub-continent.

He is survived by his wife, Odeen; four daughters, Laurie (David) Cooper and Debbie (Jon) Krause of Kenosha, Julie Harvey of Racine and Cindy (Ron) Montgomery of Crivitz, WI; and three sons, Jeff of Racine, Rob of Pound, WI and Jon of Golden, CO; and two brothers, Ray and Gene (Mary Ann), both of Racine. He is further survived by 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ann (Nee: Defatte); his father, Bob; his brother, Larry; and his granddaughter, Sara.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Richard Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Ave., with Rev. Ronald J. Gramza officiating. Private interment will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran’s Cemetery, Town of Dover. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Carre/Holgle Scholarship Fund, c/o Racine Fire Department have been suggested.
