Wayne D. Fergus Sr., age 75, passed away Friday, November 27, 2009, at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Medical Center. Wayne was born in Racine, July 16, 1934, son of David and Lucille (Nee: Braund) Fergus.
Wayne graduated from Washington Park High School “Class of 1952.” By trade he was a bricklayer indentured in 1956 and was employed by Fergus Construction for many years. He then owned and operated Wayne Fergus Masonry for a number of years and retired. Wayne was an avid sports fan. In his earlier days he loved to fish and bowl. Most recently he will be remembered for always listening to baseball and football games on his portable radio. He will be dearly missed.
Surviving are his children, Wayne (Cindi) Fergus Jr., Mark Fergus and Kelly (Donnie) Weeks all of Racine; five grandchildren, Brittney Cole, Taylor Thompson, Erin Weeks, Jon (Bobbi) Fergus and Jenny Fergus; two great-grandchildren, Randy Kroeger and Julianna Fergus; a brother, Robert J. (Bunny) Fergus; three sisters, Carol Quella, Susan Conway and Bonnie Marsch; nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, David H. Fergus; and his mother, Lucille Fergus (Ed) Lancour.
A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home Thursday, December 3, 2009, at 11 a.m. with Reverend Jeff Barrow officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family prior to the service from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to The Marian Center, 4105 Spring St Racine, WI 53405 have been suggested.
The family wished to extend a special thank you to the staff on the 3rd floor Cardiac Unit for their loving and compassionate care.
