Judith P. (Sakach) Saavedra

Judith P. Saavedra, age 67, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2009, at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center. Judith was born in Racine on July 29, 1942, daughter of the late Paul and Lillian (Nee: Beckett) Sakach.

On July 15, 1961, Judith was united in marriage to Alex Joseph Hollow Jr. who preceded her in death on January 8, 1988. On April 3, 1993, at Atonement Lutheran Church she was united in marriage to Mickey Saavedra. Judith was employed as a Food Service Manager for Racine Unified School District for 38 years, retiring in 2007. She had a great devotion and respect for treating all the school children as her own. Judith adored animals. Above all she cherished time spent with her family and will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her husband, Mickey; her five children, Mark (Anna) Hollow, Michael (Teresa) Hollow, Michele (John) Morin, Timothy (Kelly) Saavedra Sr., Kimberly Hardt; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harry (Kathy) Hansen and Paul (Joyce) Sakach; two sisters, Christine (Darrell) Pentico and Paulette Mojeck; father-in-law, Alex Hollow Sr.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Frank Rodriguez, Mike (Nancy) Saavedra, Esther (Paul) Bishop, Annie Beckett, John (Sue) Hollow; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 26 years, Alex Joseph Hollow Jr.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 25, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Kathy Brown officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Tuesday at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Wednesday at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Memorials to the Countryside Humane Society or to one’s favorite charity have been suggested.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the entire ICU staff at Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints Medical Center for their loving and compassionate care.
