Virginia 'Ginny' B. (Bott) Groth

Virginia “Ginny” B. Groth, age 85, passed away early Sunday morning, November 8, 2009, at Ridgewood Care Center. Ginny was born in Burlington, WI, February 19, 1924, daughter of the late Charles and Rachel (Nee: Weeks) Bott.

On July 30, 1953, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Racine she was united in marriage to Martin K. Groth who preceded her in death on November 12, 1990. In her later years she was the editor of the Sturtevant newsletter and member of the Kiwanis Club of Sturtevant. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. Ginny loved animals, especially caring for dogs and horses, and was a member of ASPCA and the Root River Riding Club. During the '70s and '80s she owned and operated the West Virginny’s Horse Boarding Stable. She enjoyed her many trips testing her luck with Bonnie’s Tours. She will be best remembered as a vibrant, colorful person, with a great sense of humor. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her three sons, Al (Brigitte) Groth of Racine, Wayne (Kathy) Groth of South Milwaukee, WI, Martin Groth of Racine; her daughter, Jeaneen (Sam) Brisko of Wheatland, WI; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Richard Wayne Moran III; special companion, Louis Breidinger; and brothers, Richard and Wesley.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 12, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Jeff Mortenson officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Thursday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until time of service.
